The incompetent judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran have condemned two women - Zeinab Jalalian and Sakineh Mohammadi - to death by stoning; the execution of this heinous murder is due to take place imminently.
Please contact the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights urging them to intervene; international pressure has proven to ascertain positive results.

Dear High Commissioner,
Zeinab Jalalian and Sakineh Mohammadi are due for imminent execution by stoning in the Islamic Republic of Iran. As you are aware, this constitutes the gravest form of the violation of Article 7 ICCPR (1966) prohibition of torture. As highlighted in the case of Ng v Canada (CCPR/C/21/Add.3), the Human Rights Commission's General Comment 20(44) concluded that the practice of death by stoning was a clear and accurate example of death by 'prolonged physical and mental suffering'; thus violating Article 7 of the above mentioned law.
It is already disturbing that the Human Rights Council has accepted the IRI - the world's second worst transgressor of human rights - to sit on the 'Commission on the Status of Women'. However, to not intervene and prevent such an unspeakable execution is tantamount to complicity in the heinour murder of these two unlawfully condemned women.
It is with a great sense of urgency that I emplore you to exercise your compassion, humanitarian responsibility and authority in preventing this from taking place. It is enough for evil to flourish when good people do nothing.
Yours sincerely,

Thank you Douglas, strong letter.
ReplyDeleteWe signed and tried to collect as much as possile signature to stop this barbarian middle age crime.
Actually, I believe only Sakineh Mohammadi is condemned to stoning. Zeinab is a political prisoner scheduled to be hanged. My heart aches for both of them.
ReplyDeleteMehrtash, you are a brave man, standing up for the cruelty that fellow humans are suffering around the world - It takes courage to stand up for what is Evil and even more to stand up for others.
ReplyDeleteWhen standing toe to toe with fear
